Question:

  • How do I change my default "Primary" email to metrostate.edu?

Answer:

  • If your contact primary email is already set to @metrostate.edu (employees) or (@my.metrostate.edu (students) you do not need to do anything.
  • Only one email address can be selected as a primary email address and default institution. This is the email that will show as your 'From' address.
  • All email addresses assigned to you at any other Minnesota State institution are assigned to this email account and will be delivered to one mailbox. However, your Metro State email will need to be selected as your 'Primary' email address to become the default email address displayed on all email you send.

Instructions: Change Default Primary Institution and Email Address to metrostate.edu

Your primary email is the address displayed as your FROM: address on all email.
 

Steps:

  • Step 2) Log in with your StarID and StarID password.
  • Step 3) Select the Office 365 Contact tab and then select Contact Card.
    • Note: You do not need to do anything if your contact primary email is already set to the following:
      • Employees: first.last@metrostate.edu
      • Students: first.last@my.metrostate.edu or first.last.#@my.metrostate.edu
    • If the primary email is set to something different than listed above, continue with step 4.

  • Step 4) Select a new primary email. The primary email selected also determines the default institution. IMPORTANT: This change will not take effect for approximately 24 hours once it is made.
    • If you are an Employee:
      • Click on 'Select New Employee Contact Card' and select your Metro State email address:
      • first.last@metrostate.edu
    • If you are a Student:
      • Click on Select New Student Contact Card and select your Metro State email address:
      • first.last@my.metrostate.edu or first.last.#@my.metrostate.edu
