About Student StarID Notification Email

  • Minnesota State StarID system sends email notices when your password changes or is about to expire to your StarID Notification email.
  • Rather than using your university email, It is suggested a different email be used for your StarID Notification email, usually a personal email that you actively check on a regular basis; this way, if you can't access your university email because you forgot the password or your password has expired, you can use this email address to obtain a verification code, used to verify your identity, so that you can reset your password.

Update Preferred/Personal email for StarID Notifications

If you do not have a personal email account associated your StarID to receive a verification code, follow the steps below to include or update your preferred email address

  1. Go to eServices and log in with your StarID and password.

  2. Select Account Management

  3. Select Demographic Info

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your email address (see Important note to enter a personal email address)
    Important! The recommendation is to use an email address other than your Metropolitan State email (use a personal email address). The verification code will be sent to the personal address (if you forget your password or your password has expired), since your student email account is locked.

  5. Select the Submit button to save changes.
