Access Email

As a student your email address is what will be provided to individuals corresponding with you through email.  You will want to notice the difference in your email address and the email login below. Important! Your email may not be active for 48 hours after you are accepted/admitted to Metropolitan State University.

Student Email Address : firstname.lastname@my.metrostate.edu - (i.e. john.jones@my.metrostate.edu)

Student Email Login:  YourStarID@go.minnstate.edu  (i.e. ab1234cd@go.minnstate.edu)

Remember! Your StarID is your personal ID with 2 letters - 4 numbers - 2 letters

How to Login to Email:

  1. Using a web browser go to office.com and login using your MinnState credentials
  2. Student Login Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
  3. StarID Password (This is the same password you use for eServices or D2L)

If after attempting to login with the username and StarID password you see an error message telling you that your password is incorrect (even though you can use the same StarID and password to get in to D2L) you will need to reset your StarID password to get the password to sync across all applications the account has access to.

Below are instructions to reset your password.

How to Reset A StarID Password (There may be up to a 30 minute delay once the password has been reset.)
1. Go to: starid.minnstate.edu
2. Click “Reset my Password" link
3. Click "I know my TechID (8 Digit Student ID)", enter TechID and Metropolitan State, and follow the prompts.  If you do not know your TechID or cannot answer the security questions, please try the “I know my email” option. You need to use a personal email address (such as a gmail or Yahoo, etc.) to obtain a verification code. Do NOT use your Metropolitan State University email.
4. Login to email as outlined above (REMINDER: this can take 30 minutes to sync after the reset)
