Instructions for using an Epson document camera as a webcam and microphone:
- Rooms with this model of document camera have already been connected to the instructor station via USB.
- In Zoom, the Epson camera should now come up as the default for both Audio and Video, if not, simply select it from the list.
Tips and Troubleshooting:
If your camera image appears upside down
- Switch the instructor station back to Doc Cam on the control panel mounted to the station
- Press the Menu button
- On the first tab, Image, rotate the camera 180 degrees
- Press Menu again to close
- Switch the instructor station back to the computer on the control panel
- You may need to disable video and turn it back on, or leave the meeting and rejoin
If audio isn't working
- Double check to see if Epson is the selected device
- As an alternative, join either by using Zoom's "Call Me" feature, or dial in from the phone on the instructor station (remember to dial 9 first)
If pointing at the camera at a whiteboard to display and the text appears backwards
- There is no issue, this is a mirroring option in Zoom just for you; all of the participants will be able to read the writing normally
- If you want to change the view for yourself, go to Zoom settings, choose Virtual Background, and at the bottom, change the option for "Mirror my video"
Option 2 - Audio and screen sharing from instructor station computer
All classrooms on Dayton's Bluff, Midway, and Minneapolis campuses have a phone at the instructor station that can be used for Zoom audio
- Join either by using Zoom's "Call Me" feature, or dial in from the phone (remember to dial 9 first)
- Used in conjunction with screen sharing, this is a common way to facilitate participants when a web camera is not available
Option 3 - Full audio, video, and screen sharing from laptop
University issued laptops and many personal laptops come built-in with a webcam and microphone. Connect this into any instructor station with the provided cabling, and you'll be ready to go.
Tips and Troubleshooting:
If the microphone isn't working well
- As an alternative, join either by using Zoom's "Call Me" feature, or dial in from the phone on the instructor station (remember to dial 9 first)
