- Request to reserve an event space on a Metropolitan State University campus as an external (non-Metropolitan State University) organization.
- External organizations may be affiliated with a state agency, be for profit or not for profit.
- Major event spaces include: Founders Hall Auditorium and Reception Area, Great Hall, Library 302 Eco Lab and Science Education Center Atrium.
- Other spaces, including classrooms and computer labs are also available for event reservation but specific rooms may not be guaranteed due to class scheduling.
Important Information for External Events
- There is a two-hour minimum reservation
- External events wanting to serve food must use a caterer who’s licensed with the State of MN
- External Events are required to provide proof of certificate of liability insurance
- External events require payment prior to event
Event and meeting organizers are able to select a caterer of their choice, as long as they are a current licensed food service provider with the State of Minnesota and they are insured.

- You can verify a Minnesota catering vendor's food and beverage license by navigating to MDH's food, beverage, and lodging license search on MMB site https://mn.gov/elicense to see if the vendor is licensed there.
- If they are not a current vendor registered in Marketplace with the State of Minnesota, the event/meeting organizers can use the steps below to help the vendor get registered.
- A copy of their license must accompany the catering requisition when it’s submitted in Workday.
Events Involving Alcoholic Beverages
Events hosted at Metro State University may include the option to serve alcohol, provided that all university policies and procedures are followed.
To request alcohol service at your event:
- Complete the 5.18.2 Event Checklist for Events Involving Alcoholic Beverages; this Form download is available from procedure: 5.18.2 Event Check List for Events involving Alcoholic Beverages - use the document link "Download the form as a Word document" located toward the top of the page.
- Attach the completed checklist to your reservation form, or submit it directly to the Facilities Event Coordinator.
- Ensure all required approvals are obtained in advance of the event.
- Additional security will be required for events serving alcohol.
Note: Serving alcohol without prior approval is not permitted.
