  • The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a system of surveys designed to collect data from all primary providers of post secondary education. IPEDS is a single, comprehensive system designed to encompass all institutions and educational organizations whose primary purpose is to provide postsecondary education. IPEDS is the core post secondary education data collection program within the U.S. Department of Education, and it is sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The IPEDS system is built around a series of interrelated surveys to collect institution-level data in such areas as enrollments, program completions, faculty, staff, finances, and academic

  • These data are used at the federal and state level for policy analysis and development; at the institutional level for benchmarking and peer analysis; and by students and parents, through the College Navigator, to aid in the college search process. (Source: What is IPEDS? Data Feedback Report)
