Overview
The CompTIA integration allows for an instructor to connect a D2L Brightspace course to a CompTIA course. This connection allows for the creation of LTI deep links, pointing directly to CompTIA resources and activities.
Instructions for Use
Setting up Lessons
- In Content area of your course, either create a module or use an existing module
- Within the module, activate Existing Activities dropdown menu, and select CompTIA
- Select Course Resources

- Select the product you are using. (If you check the boxes next to Institution-licensed products and Products currently in use, your selection may be more accurate, as bad options will be removed.) For this example, I will choose Network+ Cert Master Perform. Simple click on/select the product button you will use.
- Resources are going to load. (I did resize my window to make it fit using the bottom right corner triangle icon to resize.)
- Include Last Location Link – sounds like a good idea, check it.
- You can select the chapter from the column on the left side of the popup.
- Select individual items from chapter on the right side.
- You can simply put the Introduction link in and students can navigate the CompTIA side for the chapter readings—it is probably preferred.
- For assessments, you may want to only pull in lesson reviews, labs, and the chapter quiz. (All these are optional.)
- When your selections are completed, select the Continue button in the bottom right corner of the popup.
- Deselect items that do no need a grade item. In the example, I suggested bring in an introduction link—that is actually for students to read the content. I do not need a point associated with that. Deselect the readings.

- Select Create Links
- The integration with think a little bit and then the popup will close and in the module that you launched from, you will find individual links to the items you chose to bring into D2L. At the same time, those items which you marked as graded now have a grade item in Grades.
You can now access the course content through the reading link (in the example above Module 1.0 Introduction) or any of the lessons. You (and your students) can then navigate CompTIA content in CompTIA’s interface using Outline.

Student Access
When students initially enter the course through the integration, they will be challenged for a key.
For help on the key, back in the setup process, step 3, using Settings, you can enter a url that can point students to a place where they can get the key.
Grade Synchronization
Upon completion of graded activities, grades will be sent back from the vendor platform to the Brightspace grade book.
Support Resources
Problems with the platform or its integration should be directed to CompTIA support.
