Overview
This article outlines how to utilize the technology options available in the room.
Article Sections:
Audio only
This setup is designed for a speaking event that does not require the use of a computer. The microphones in the room can be used to boost the speaker’s voice.
How to use Audio Only:
- Press the Audio Only button on the screen

- Use the Handheld Wireless and Lavalier Wireless column to control the sound from the microphones.

- When the session is over, press the Close button in the upper right corner of the touchscreen to return to the start menu

(Note: The Room Mics and Program Audio columns are not used in this mode)

General Classroom
This setup is used for sessions that include a Presentation or video but there is no teleconferencing solution needed.
How to set up a Basic Presentation using General Classroom:
- Press the General Classroom button

- Choose the source for content you want to display:
- PC: this is the instructor station PC in the room
- HDMI: this is if you are looking to connect a device through HDMI
- USB-C: this is if you are looking to connect a device through USB-C
- Doc Cam: this is if you are looking to use the doc cam on the desk
- Once you have everything ready, unselect the Screen Shade button.
- Note: The Screen Shade button will be activated whenever you start up the system, so you can get your presentation ready before sharing the screen.
- Use the volume controls on the right side of the screen to control the sound from the instructor station.
- If needed, press the Advanced Audio button to adjust the microphone levels.
How to change to a different source to present content:
- Plug in your device using the HDMI cable or the USB-C cable, and press the corresponding input button in the center
- Select the corresponding video source button on the touch panel.
How to display content from two different sources:
The two displays can be used independently to display two different sources simultaneously.
- Press the Advanced Display button.

- Select the video input sources for Display 1 Video Selection and Display 2 Video Selection

- Select an audio source to set which source is connected to the room speakers.

Hyflex
NOTE: You must run Zoom through the instructor station to use the cameras and the room mics.
The Hyflex room set up is designed to maximize class interaction between students in the classroom and online as well as putting the necessary controls to run a dynamic lecture within easy reach.
How to set up a Zoom session using Hyflex:
This process assumes that the presenter is the event host and has set up a Zoom meeting ahead of time using their Minnesota State Zoom account.
- Log in to the instructor station
- The computer default is to mirror the displays so Display 1 and Display 2 display the same thing. Press Win+P and select Extend to display different content on the two displays
- Open your Zoom meeting on the Instructor PC
- Press the Hyflex button on the touchscreen
- Once your presentation is ready, press the Screen Shade button to display your content
The sections below discuss the controls you can use during the session:
Camera Selection:
At the bottom of the Hyflex page are two camera buttons:

- Selecting the presenter camera switches to the camera in the back of the room facing the presenter
- Selecting the room camera switches to the camera in the front of the room facing the students.
Camera Controls:
Under the Room Mic Mute is the Camera Controls button

- Select the camera you want to adjust at the top of the screen and use the controls to position the camera view. Use the arrow buttons to move the camera left, right, up, or down. Use the plus or minus buttons to zoom in or out.
- Select the Close button in the upper right corner to return to the main hyflex page
Audio:
Here is how to the audio is set up in the room:
- Ensure the audio in the Zoom meeting room is set to "Room Audio"
- The instructor wireless mics are always live
- The microphones in the ceiling are directed towards the room and muted by default. To ensure the best audio for the people who attend online, be sure the presenter uses the wireless mic options
- To prevent the possibility of feedback online, use the wireless mics by the instructor station. If you move into to the room seating area, press the button on the wireless mic or lavalier mic to mute it.
- The volume buttons on the main hyflex page connect to the sound coming from the computer. To turn up the presenter mic or the room mics press the Advanced Audio button.

The controls for the wireless mics and the room mics are found by selecting the Advanced Audio button in the lower right hand corner:

Lecture Capture
This set up is designed to give the user the most control of the technology in the room, by merging the features of the General Classroom set up and the Hyflex set up. The scenario below is one use case that the user would not be able to replicate in the other modes.
Setting up a Zoom meeting with slides on Both Displays
NOTE: You must run Zoom through the instructor station to use the cameras and the room mics.
- Log in to the instructor station and press Win+P to extend the displays.
- Open your Zoom meeting on the instructor PC
- Select the Lecture Caputre button on the touchscreen
- Select the PC button as the source

- Select the Advanced Display button and select Room PC Primary in both the Display 1 and 2 Video Selection columns

- This displays the Primary display on both screens in the room while allowing the secondary display to be used by the instructor to monitor things like the people online and the chat.
- Once you are ready, deselect the Screen Shade button.
Caveats to this setup
- To display something online from a different source than the instructor station, the user will have to log into the meeting on the zoom meeting on that device as a guest and share their screen on that device.
- Audio the audio settings will work the same as in the Hyflex settings. The user can access the controls through the Advanced Audio menu
- Camera setting are available by selecting the Camera Settings button at the bottom of the screen to switch between the room and presenter cameras.
