Overview
The eduroam wireless network is the primary, official wireless network used by Metro State University and all students, faculty, and staff should be using this as their preferred wireless network. Users connecting to eduroam are encouraged to use the Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) when configuring their endpoint as it streamlines the configuration process and is officially supported by InCommon, the higher education body managing and supporting eduroam.
Recommended: CAT Install for iOS (iPhone, iPad)
The following instructions are intended to support CAT installation on personally owned devices using Apple iOS operating system, including iPhone and iPad devices.
- Using a web browser from your device navigate to, https://cat.eduroam.org and select button Click here to download your eduroam® installer.
- Select Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. You may have to search from the list, depending on where you might be connecting.
- Select the eduroam® button to begin downloading the CAT profile for your device.
- A download notice will be displayed. Wait for the profile to be downloaded.
- The browser will inform you the website is downloading a configuration profile. Select Allow to complete the profile download.
- Once the profile has downloaded, select Close to acknowledge the download.
- From your iOS home screen, select the Settings app.
- In the Settings menu, select the General control panel.
- From the General control panel, select the VPN & Device Management screen.
- From here, you should be able to find and select the eduroam® configuration profile downloaded in the previous steps.
- Select Install located top-right of the screen.
- At this point, a Warning will be presented to inform you of the digital certificates the profile will install on your device. These are the certificates of the certificate authorities supporting the Minnesota State eduroam authentication servers. Select Install to proceed with the certificate installation.
- You will be prompted once more to install the certificates. Select Install at the bottom of your screen.
- The following page is a notice of Minnesota State System Procedures identifying acceptable use of this infrastructure. Please read through the terms and conditions and select Next once you have been able to review the procedure.
- Enter your Minnesota State username and select Next to continue.

- Enter your password and select Next to proceed. This will complete the CAT profile installation.
- Navigate to the Settings app and select the Wi-Fi control settings.
- Select eduroam from the list of available networks and your iOS device will connect using the settings provided through your CAT profile configuration. You are now connected to eduroam.
