Overview
Requesting a loaner laptop does not guarantee availability since requests are processed on a first come, first-served basis.
The Metro State University Laptop Loaner Program provides laptops to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who need them to complete academic work. Laptops will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis for those that meet the program criteria (up to 200 students).
Participation Criteria
The current criteria for participation in the program include:
- You must be a Metro State University student registered for the current semester in which you are requesting the laptop for at least one credit-bearing course, and not own a computer or other technology device to complete coursework.
- If student is blocked from checking out library materials and books, they will not be able to checkout a laptop.
- Student must be in good financial standing, no holds for past-due balances.
Requesting a laptop for use
- Once the Library has approved the laptop request, you'll receive an email confirming the date when the laptop is ready for pick up.
- Visit the first floor desk in the Library and Learning Center (645 East Seventh Street, Saint Paul) during business hours.
- Students must provide a copy of their student ID. If a student does not have an ID, another form of government-issued ID may be used to have a student ID made.
- Laptops must be turned back in at the end of each semester to allow for a computer check-up prior to redistribution.
- Do not save files to the laptop instead use your university Microsoft Office 365 account OneDrive to save your files.
