Faculty Profiles: Content Guidelines

Headshot

  • You may submit only one file at a time. It cannot be more than 25 megabytes.
  • No selfies. Headshots must be clear, professional images of you, face forward, from the shoulders up, against a neutral background. Headshots cannot include other people (even if faces are cropped out), animals, any item that contains intellectual property (i.e., logos), or excessive glare or back lighting.
  • Your headshot must be in JPEG, PNG or GIF format. JPEG is preferred. File names must have the correct extension: .jpg or .jpeg for JPEGs, .png for PNGs, and .GIF for GIFs.
  • The image dimensions of your headshot must be at least 650 pixels vertically and 650 pixels horizontally at 72 dpi resolution.
  • Captions or photography credits cannot be included with your headshot.
  • You are responsible for securing any usage rights for a copyrighted image and may be asked for documentation of the copyright holder’s ascent.
  • Headshots are subject to review by Marketing and Communications and may be cropped or edited.
  • The university provides opportunities to have professional photos taken at various events throughout the year.

Narrative Bio

  • Your narrative biography should be between 200–300 words long. It cannot be more than 500 words long.
  • Write short, snappy paragraphs made of short, snappy sentences.
  • Text may be italicized but additional formatting is not available. Links (including plain-text URLs), images and document files cannot be inserted.
  • Write in the third person. After the first instance of your full name, use your last name without any honorifics or professional titles: Arthur, not President Arthur.
  • Discipline or subject names are in lower case unless they are proper nouns: sociology, biology, English.
  • Titles of long works are italicized. Titles of shorter works appear within quotes.
  • Do not promote commercial activity or sales.
  • All information must be current, accurate and verifiable.

List Bio

  • The list biography is intended to be a space for you to list your academic and professional works, research interests and other categorized or chronological information. Your list biography may be up to 1,000 words long.
  • Use a format standard within your discipline for citations. We encourage the use of headings and bulleted or numbered lists to make your list biography easier to read.
  • Headings can be added by selecting the dropdown that says "Paragraph" and switching it to "Heading 3". Please restrict your headings to the bulleted list below the text box.
  • Text may be italicized but additional formatting is not available. Links (including plain-text URLs), images and document files cannot be inserted.
  • Do not promote commercial activity or sales.
  • All information must be current, accurate and verifiable.

Pronouns

  • Pronouns can be selected from a pre-defined list of pronouns or by entering custom pronouns.
  • Custom pronouns should be formatted Pronoun1/Pronoun2.
  • When no pronouns are select, pronouns are hidden on your public profile page.
