Emergency Notification System

Overview

  • Metropolitan State University utilizes a comprehensive emergency notification system (Singlewire Informacast & Star Alert) to quickly and accurately communicate alerts and information to our university community.

Types of Notifications

Emergency notifications can be rapidly sent to our university community in several different ways.  Emergency notifications can utilize the university’s public address and phone systems for audio broadcasts, computers and digital displays for pop-up notifications, and SMS texts via Star Alert. Depending on the emergency, one or all options can be used.

Star Alert

Star Alert is the Minnesota State emergency notification system. Employees and students are automatically registered with information provided at the time of hiring or registration. Updates to contact information should be done in eServices for students, and through the Employee Home/Self Service page for employees. For more information on Star Alert, please refer to:
