Create modules and sub-modules

The following is how to create modules and sub-modules

Creating a module 

  1. From your course home page, select Content in the navigation bar.
  2. Select + New Module

  3. Enter a Module Title. Due Date, Availability Dates, and Description are all options.
  4. Press Save and Close.
  5. The module is added to the bottom of the module list.

Creating submodules

  1. From Content, select a module from the left sidebar wherein you wish the submodule to be.
  2. Select Create New, then select New Submodule from the selections

  3. Then, again, enter a Module Title. Due Date, Availability Dates, and Description are all options.
  4. Press Save and Close.

Modify start and end dates or release conditions to a module

  1. Navigate to a module within Content
  2. Select the options icon (...) and then Edit

  3. Select Availability Dates & Conditions in the upper right corner to expand the accordion and gain access to access dates and the release conditions.
    • The Start Date sets when students can access the module. Before this date, students can see that the module is there and view a list of content, but will not be able to open any content.
    • The Due Date is a soft date. Students will still be able to access the content after the Due Date.
    • The End Date sets when the students’ access to the module ends.
    • (Optional) Add release conditions if you would like.

  4. Press Save and Close when done.

Add documents to a module or sub-module

  1. In the Content tool, select a module.
  2. Select the Add Existing.
  3. Drag your file into the target area or use the browse to find the document through file explorer.

Create a topic page using HTML templates

  1. In the Content tool, select a module.
  2. Select Create New.
  3. From the available selections, select Page.
  4. Enter a title for the topic in the Page Title field.
  5. Use the Select Template dropdown menu and select the template you want to use.
  6. Enter your own content into the HTML editor and remove any unnecessary text.
    Note: Each template will provide formatting and sometimes even instructions for how to make changes.
  7. Click Save and Close.

Add Existing Activities

Existing activities include links to any assignments, discussions, and quizzes. You can also pull in videos from Kaltura Mediaspace, links to VoiceThreads, or other third-party integrations.

  1. In the Content tool, select the module in the left-hand column where you want to
  2. Select Add Existing button
  3. Choose the activity you want to add to the module (McGraw Hill, Cengage, Pearson, and Barnes & Noble First Day are among the options.)
