IVS VALT for Students

Summary

STUDENTS: VALT may be used by students enrolled in Early Childhood Development courses and may be used in some individual and group counseling courses. The platform provides a means to record interviews and then play back recordings for teaching and learning.

Login

You must be on a campus computer or using the virtual lab to gain access to VALT.

Access to Videos

Instructors will provide access to the student videos.

Location of Videos

These videos will appear often on the home page of VALT in the Recent recordings widget or within the Review (a splice of 35mm film - Review icon) panel, accessed in the vertical navigation to the far left.

To review the videos, simply select the name of the video and it will be brought up in a video player.

Comments on Videos

As you watch the video, you can use comments.

The comments will be time stamped on the video when you hit Enter/Return.

  1. You can use @ to mention someone.
  2. You can add an attachment.
  3. Templates are not yet developed—this may be a possible future development.
  4. You can change the color of your markers—to distinguish your comment marks from other students or faculty.
  5. You can create a duration marker for your comment that would speak to a time frame in the video.

Comment options available in VALT, there are numbers over each button corresponding to the previous paragraph.

On any comment you should be able to reply to the comment. (Reply icon appears to be an arrow over laying a second, pointing to the left)

On your own comments only, you should be able to edit you comment (the edit icon appears as a pencil) or delete your comment using the trash can icon.
