Overview

This article provides information about Science Education Center 314, including room capacity, type, technology, and photos, as well as instructions to connect and display a computer, shut down steps, and troubleshooting guidance.

  • The max capacity of the room is 24 individuals

Using the Technology

Room Configuration and Modes

The room has the following modes:

  • Audio Only: Simple interface to control the microphones.
  • General Classroom: Use the displays and microphones in the room with the ceiling camera in a fixed position, pointed straight down.
  • Lecture Capture: Adds the ability to adjust the position of the ceiling camera.

Audio Only

The Audio Only screen shows the volume sliders and mute buttons for the wireless microphones in the room.

General Classroom

The General Classroom screen has three groups of buttons.

The four buttons in the center control the video source connected to the display:

  • PC: instructor station monitor
  • HDMI: device connected to the control panel through the HDMI cable.
  • USB-C: device connected to the control panel through the USB-C cable.
  • Camera: view from the ceiling camera.
    • The buttons at the bottom of the middle section control the camera zoom. 
    • Note: In General Classroom, the camera points straight down and does not move.

The right section contains four buttons and provides volume controls to the instructor PC.

  • The top button increases the volume.
  • The second button decreases the volume.
  • The third button is Volume Mute and is activated upon start up.
  • The fourth button is Advanced Audio to control microphone volume.

The left section contains three buttons:

  • The top button provides the ability to switch modes.
  • The middle button (Hide A/V) disconnects the video feed to the display.
  • The bottom button shuts down the system.

Lecture Capture

The Lecture Capture screen has three groups of buttons.

The center group is used to select a display source and access the camera settings:

  • PC: instructor station monitor
  • HDMI: device connected to the control panel through the HDMI cable.
  • USB-C: device connected to the control panel through the USB-C cable.
  • Camera: view from the ceiling camera.
  • Camera Settings opens controls to move and focus the camera.
    • Note: Lecture capture allows the camera to be move and focus on different areas in the room.

The right column contains four buttons to control the volume from the instructor PC.

  • The top button increases the volume.
  • The second button decreases the volume.
  • The third button is Volume Mute and is activated upon start up.
  • The fourth button is Advanced Audio to control microphone volume.

The left column contains three buttons:

  • The top button provides the ability to switch modes.
  • The middle button (Hide A/V) disconnects the video feed to the display.
  • The bottom button shuts down the system.

Troubleshooting

The instructor PC is not responsive

Check that the instructor PC is on. The PC is located in the podium stand. The power button should be illuminated white to indicate the PC is on.

There is no sound in the room

There are two independent controls for volume in the room. The first are the buttons on the control panel that controls the ceiling speakers. The other is the volume on the device connected to the projector.

  1. First, check the sound level on your device.
  2. Then, check the sound level of the room speakers on the control panel.
