D2L Brightspace Course Navigation

Metro State University aligns with System standards recommended by the Minnesota State System Office's Learning Environment Committee, a committee of the ASA Tech Council. This creates consistency across institutions for an improved student and instructor experience.

The Common Navigation layout (Students and Faculty)

The five most popular tools (Content, Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes, and Grades) are on the main navigation bar for easier access. Less-used tools are alphabetically listed within the "Other Tools" dropdown menu.

The Course Tools dropdown (Course Instructor only)

Feedback from faculty unions highlighted the most-used/requested faculty-only tools, and they are placed under Course Tools dropdown:

• Course Admin: Access to all course tools, including Checklist which as been pulled from the navigation.
  • Checklists can still be used but will need to developed from Course Admin and deployed through Content. For more: Article - D2L Brightspace: Checklist

• Quick Eval: Enables faculty to use a single location to evaluate all student submissions that are awaiting evaluation. For more: Article - D2L Brightspace: Class Progress Tool
