Packback Setup

What is Packback? 

Packback is an online platform for discussions and written assignments that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to coach students to ask better questions and iteratively develop as thinkers and writers. It also automatically checks for plagiarism and use of generative AI (GenAI), coaching students to correct these issues. It is integrated with D2L Brightspace and there is no additional charge for students to use this tool. 

How to Set Up Packback after it has been enabled

  • If you are new to using Packback, start with Step 1.
  • For existing Packback users, start wtih Step 3.
  1. Submit Packback Integration Request to be enabled for your D2L Brightspace course(s). 

  1. After it is enabled, Academic Technologies staff will provide a Packback contact who can aid you in set up and deployment of Packback should you desire.

  2. Once enabled, you can set up Packback; go to the course module where you'd like to add Packback and select Existing Activities

  3. Select External Learning Tools and then select Packback

  1. Select the Packback link that was added to the module. It will initiate the Setup Wizard. 

  1. On this page, select an existing community or Create a New Community to fill out the community details. 

  1. Double check the information and select Save and Continue to the bottom of the page. 

Once steps are completed, students can then use that link to be added to the community and access activities on the Packback platform.
