Introduction to Notifications
Notifications are designed to allow personal notifications to be sent to individuals who are interested in keeping up with what is going in a D2L Brightspace course or within the learning environment.
Notifications are set by the individual and are entirely the individuals preference; Metro State does not mandate a notification setting. By default notifications are limited in their scope and do not send notifications. A student or faculty can go out of their way to turn on notifications so they can be kept abreast to the things going on in their courses.
Setting up Notifications
Notification administration can be found in your personal menu. In the upper right corner of D2L, if you select your name, the personal menu will drop down, select Notifications from there.
Contact Methods
The default send to email address will be your campus email address. If you would like to receive these notifications on a personal email address, you can use the link "Change your email settings" and then use the "Use custom email" option to enter your personal email address.
Be sure to double check your email address.
Summary of Activity
Daily or Weekly? Either way you can choose the time you wish to be notified and then on the weekly choice, you can choose the day to be notified.
Instant Notifications
Presented will be a laundry list of notifications that can be fired by D2L. You can select from the list those items that you wish to be notified of via email. Select the check box by the ones that apply to your desires.
Future course notifications
This would allow for future courses to communicate to you through notifications. This should rarely ever be the case, but there is a check box to allow it.
Exclude Some Courses
Some times it is possible that you will be entered into a course that you do not want any notifications from. Instead of turning off all your notifications for all classes, you can simply turn off notifications for a particular class/site. Use the link to "Manage my course exclusions". On the page that loads, you can search for the course to exclude, when you see the course appear, select the 'X' (Stop notifications) to the right of the course. If you wish to reverse the exclusion, you can revisit, search for the course again and select the button to restart the notifications.
