Virtual Computer Lab: Client Installation

For the best user experience, Metro State's Virtual Computer Labs can be accessed after installing the client software on your personal device. Below are the steps:

  1. Navigate to https://labs.metrostate.edu
  2. When you are presented with the splash screen, please select Install VMware Horizon Client

  3. Once you are at the client download page, please select the appropriate download for your device. 
  4. Once you "Go to Downloads", you will see a screen similar to the one below. Click on the download link to begin you software download. 
  5. Once downloaded, run or install the file. A window asking if you want to allow the following program (VMware) to make changes to your computer. Click Yes.
  6. The screen below should appear once you have select yes, select Agree & Install.

  7. Once the software completes, you will see a success screen and a prompt to restart. At this time, restart your device.

  8. Once you have restarted your device, find and select VMware Horizon Client in your program menu. 
  9. Click on the Add Server button and enter "labs.metrostate.edu" and select connect.

  10. You will be prompted for a username and password. Please use your StarId and Password, just like you are logging into a computer. Do not add @minnstate.edu after your StarId. Once authentication completes, you will have a choice of labs and can access them labs remotely.
