VPN (Remote Access) Windows 10 Connection Steps

Article Type: How To

Question:

  • How do I connect to VPN with my Metropolitan State University Windows 10 laptop?

Answer:

Please follow these steps to get connected each time you are using your university issued computer remotely to successfully connect using VPN.  You may notice that you can't connect to your home wireless network or cellular hot spot with your work laptop if you don't follow these steps and may be unable to access resources with your work laptop.  You must also follow these steps each time in order to get your H: drive to map consistently.  Other drives like S: and U: will map without following these steps but H: will not and these steps need to be followed each time for H: to consistently map.

1) Reboot your laptop. Do NOT log in when you get back to the log in screen.  Follow the steps below instead.

2) Make sure you are connected to your wireless network or cellular hot spot by clicking on the network icon and selecting a network to connect to.

3) Once you get connected to wireless, click on the button that looks like two monitors in the lower right to connect to VPN.
